Family & Farm
Sunset Farms has been family-owned and operated for more than five generations. In the late 1930's, Grampa and Grammy Shellenbarger raised vegetables, dairy cows, and meat animals. They were well known in the community for their farm fresh milk. In 1986, Roy and Julie Wallace along with their children moved to the farm. Over the years, the animals have been replaced by the greenhouse, not only has the business grown but the family has as well. Sunset Farms Greenhouse opened 30 years ago and began producing fresh Maine wreaths in a small garage with little heat and one wreath machine. Today, we are proud to say that Sunset Farms is one of the largest producers of Maine Christmas wreaths in the Mid-Coast area. The new production facility is now located in one of our greenhouses where heat is plentiful. Sunset Farms Greenhouse operates three wreath machines, three decorating stations and a large design station for custom arrangements. During the busy Christmas season, the business is operated by three generations of the Wallace family. You're always welcome at the farm to see how the plants are grown and the wreaths are made.
In the spring, all four of the greenhouses are full and flourishing with hanging baskets, arrangements, vegetable seedlings and much more. When shopping with Sunset Farms, customers always have the option to customize, whether it be making your Christmas holiday special with a handmade bow from our many ribbon options or a hanging basket full of your favorite colored flowers in the spring. Sunset Farms, is known for the freshest products, highest quality, unique design and exceptional customer service. You are always welcome to come by and see our production process, look around or just ask questions. We hope to see you this season and thank you for supporting Maine's local business.
